75 years in the making

75-years

Fairhurst Accountants are celebrating their 75th anniversary this year and marked the occasion with a BBQ and fete at Ashfield House. On a gloriously sunny afternoon over 140 members of Fairhurst staff and their families enjoyed a series of party games on the lawn before tucking in to a hog roast and BBQ. Guest appearances from Wigan rugby stars Sean O’Loughlin, Josh Charnley, Darrell Goulding, Michael McLlorum, Anthony Gelling and Dominic Crosby plus a performance by Jerome McMurray ensured an excellent time was had by all.

It was 1938 when John Fairhurst (Senior) first established a small accountancy practice in King Street, Wigan. From these humble beginnings the firm has built an enviable reputation for professionally serving the local business community. In addition to representing and advising some of the most iconic businesses in Wigan, Fairhurst has firmly established itself as a top 25 firm in the North West. In recent times the practice has played a pivotal role in helping to build and finance Wigan Youth Zone, a local charity that will provide opportunities for young people for many years to come.

“Fairhurst is proud of its rich history as an independent, family run firm.” reflected John Fairhurst, Partner and grandson of the practice’s founder. “Our people are our business and we aim to maintain this ethos and look for continued success for our staff and clients in the next 75 years and beyond.”
