Gary Edgerton FCA
Gary joined Fairhurst in 1984, becoming a qualified Chartered Accountant in 1986 on his way to becoming partner in 1996. He also passed his financial planning exams prior to setting up Fairhurst Financial Planning in 2002. Gary acts for a large number of SMEʼs with turnover up to £40m and has a particular interest in new start ups and also assisting companies in raising finance via his large network of contacts. Away from work Gary is a keen sports fan with a particular interest in Rugby League.
Stephen Elliott CTA
Stephen joined Fairhurst as a partner in 2001 after seven years with PwC in the mergers and acquisitions division. Stephen primarily works with large and medium sized owner managed businesses while also incorporating a number of multinational Plcʼs, small private clients & trusts. Stephenʼs work is focussed on providing corporate and private tax services to clients and working alongside other Fairhurst partners on mergers & acquisitions and other significant transaction work. Stephen is a keen sporting and outdoor enthusiast and has raised funds for a number of local and national charities.

John Fairhurst BA (Hons) FCA
John qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen in Manchester prior to moving to Fairhurst in 1989, becoming partner in 1996. John is the grandson of the founder of the firm and son of former senior partner, David. Johnʼs day-to-day role encompasses audit and accountancy services for his 200+ client portfolio (with turnovers ranging from £1m to over £50m). John is also the audit technical partner for the firm. He specialises in raising capital and debt finance for his clients and he and his team of 12 staff regularly assist in preparing profit projections, cash-flow forecasts and share valuations. John is a lifelong fan of both Wigan Warriors and Wigan Athletic and enjoys watching cricket, golf and both cycling and walking whilst listening to BBC Radio 6 Music.
Jane Dennis BA (Hons) FCA
Jane trained in a Liverpool City Centre practice before joining Fairhurst in 1988 and becoming a partner of the firm in 1996. Whilst Janeʼs main role within the practice is servicing a wide SME client base, both with regard to audit and accountancy services, her team of SAGE and QuickBooks trained staff also help clients develop monthly and quarterly management reporting procedures. Jane has a particular specialism in solicitorsʼ practices, academies and charities. She also heads up the Company Formation and Secretarial department of the practice. Jane is married with two children and in her spare time loves entertaining and travelling. She is also a season ticket holder at Wigan Rugby League.
Patrick Morris CTA ACA
Patrick joined the firm in 2002 after 10 years with PwC, and became a partner in 2008. Patrickʼs work involves handling clientsʼ tax mitigation, restructuring and exit planning issues for a wide range of clients comprising predominantly, SMEʼs and high net worth individuals. Away from work Patrick is a keen cyclist and also enjoys wind surfing.

Jo Ellis-Clarke ACMA
Jo joined Fairhurst in 2021 as Practice Manager and was promoted to Director of Finance & HR in 2023. Prior to joining Fairhurst, she has held several senior Finance roles in Industry, advising a diverse range of businesses from large corporates to entrepreneurial SMEs. Delivering results, unlocking potential and a first-class service is what drives Jo. Outside of work Jo enjoys travelling, theatre and down-time with her husband.
Louise Webster BSc (Hons) ACA
Louise joined Fairhurst in 2008, was promoted to Director in October 2018 and has recently been promoted to Associate Partner. Louise acts for a range of SME’s dealing with statutory account preparation and audit for medium /large companies and groups as well as charities and other regulated entities. Louise is responsible for ensuring our accounts teams are up to date with the latest technical developments and is a lead member of the firms Audit Committee. In her spare time Louise enjoys entertaining with her Husband and two children, walking the dog and following her local amateur rugby league team Ashton Bears. Louise is an advocate for girls and women’s sports and has been instrumental in the set up of the girls and women’s academy at Ashton Bears.
